Abuse
Child abuse is a crime. All suspected instances of child abuse must be taken seriously and thoroughly investigated.
All First Nation children are entitled to a safe home and community surroundings where they can grow and develop to their fullest capacity and their greatest potential.
Prompt reporting and follow up of suspected child abuse instances would help assure the greatest future for our children.
Upon receiving a report of a disclosure of an alleged abuse, it is the responsibility of the abuse investigator to complete an assessment and determine if the child is in need of protection. After the disclosure has been validated by the investigator, the abuse worker, on full consultation and in cooperation with the abuse investigator and the Supervisor will develop a case management plan.
